How do I download my music to my computer?

The instructions for the installation of the Ariama Download Manager on a PC computer are detailed below. Please find the installation instructions for Mac here.

You will be prompted to install the Ariama Download Manager when you make your first digital music purchase. You just need to check the box that acknowledges your agreement to Ariama's End User Agreement and click the button to start the Download Manager installation.

How do I install the Download Manager?

You will be prompted to run or save the installation file. Click  . After the file has downloaded, you will be prompted a second time. Click .

After initiating the installation application you will see this prompt:

In this window you can select the specific location on your hard drive where Ariama's Download Manager will be installed. Click the "Install" button to complete the installation.

If you prefer, you can also download track by track without using the download manager.

For the best experience, Ariama recommends adjusting the Download Manager's preferences. Preferences can be customized by selecting the "Preferences" option in the Download Manager's program window. Here, you can select the folder to which your music will download, aptly named your Download Folder. You can also choose to have your music imported to your media player’s library following download. If you have iTunes or Windows Media Player installed on your computer, the Download Manager will automatically launch the application designated as the default media player and import your content to your library. If neither iTunes nor Windows Media Player is installed, or if you have chosen “do nothing” following download in your Preferences, the Download Manager will simply save your music to your Download Folder.

To see an explanation of the options found in the Download Manager's Preferences Panel click here.

Please note that if both iTunes and Windows Media Player are installed on your computer, our Download Manager will automatically import your purchased music files into iTunes. If you have purchased MP3 files which have been imported into iTunes and wish to listen to them in Windows Media Player, locate the files on your hard drive and simply drag and drop them into the Library inside the Windows Media Player application.

To locate your purchased MP3 files, go to the Ariama Download Manager and select the "preferences" option under "File" and check the location of the "Download Folder". The path displayed under "Download Folder" (ex. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Desktop\") is where your files have been download.

Lossless audio files you have purchased will also be downloaded to the "Download Folder". However, it is important to note that Lossless files that have been converted to either Windows Media Lossless or Apple Lossless will only play in the supported media player. For more information on playing lossless files you have purchased on Ariama, click here.

How long does it take to download a piece of music?

Download time depends on your internet connection and the size of your purchased music files. A single MP3 file 5MB in size will download in less than one minute on a typical broadband internet connection. The same download on a 56k dial-up connection will take significantly longer. Keep in mind that higher audio quality means a larger file size. Since Lossless is a higher audio quality than MP3, a piece downloaded as Lossless will take longer than the same piece downloaded as an MP3.

Do I need to use Ariama’s download manager? Why?

No, all digital content available on Ariama can be downloaded as individual files without Ariama’s Download Manager. To manually download individual tracks, click the manually download individual items link on the download page to display buttons next to each track. Then, left click the button. Depending on your internet browser application, you may be prompted to open or save the file to your computer’s hard drive. If available,  select the "Save File" option and click "Ok" to begin your download.  The exact location to which your downloads will be saved depends upon how your internet browser's settings have been configured.  If you are unsure where your files are downloaded to,  check your browser's "preferences" or "options".

Please note that we recommend that you use Ariama's download manager, as it will queue track downloads, automatically determine your default audio player, and convert any Lossless files you download into a format supported by your player.

If you choose to download lossless audio files manually as individual tracks, the files will be saved to your computer in *.flac (native FLAC) format, and may not be compatible with your preferred audio player.

Lossless Audio Files
